Fashion Revue

What is Fashion Revue?

The purpose of 4-H Fashion Revue is to:

  • Provide educational activities for youth who are learning and growing in citizenship, leadership and life skills
  • Inspire appreciation of clothing, textiles, consumer science, and personal development
  • Introduce opportunities to extend youth leadership and communication
  • Promote self esteem through individual expression

Under the Stars!

 

 

 

2023 Entry Categories

SECTION A: These categories do not require enrollment in a 4-H clothing or textiles project:
 
CONSUMER SCIENCE (PURCHASED)
Participants will shop for an entire outfit with the total cost not to exceed $50, not including sales tax. Receipt(s) for all items in the outfit visible to evaluators required to document purchases during the current program year. 
 
SOFTIE CHALLENGE
Participants will sew, felt, knit, or crochet a softie (small stuffed animal, cloth doll, plush toy, soft sculpture, or fabric toy) using a pattern or their own design.
 
COSTUME CHALLENGE
Participants will create a costume for themselves or another person using any technique, materials (not necessarily fabric), or pattern. The costume can be any theme and from any place, country, or time but must be 4-H appropriate. 70% of the costume must be hand-made by the participant.
 
LEATHER CREATIONS
Participants will create any leather accessory - purse, belt, wallet, saddlebag, key fob, etc. in any style, using any technique, and using leather, suede, faux leather.

 

SECTION B*: These categories do require enrollment in a 4-H clothing or textiles project:

TRADITIONAL*
Participants will construct a garment(s) and assemble an outfit that demonstrates their sewing skills and the ability to coordinate an outfit.
 
MAKE IT WITH WOOL*
Participants will sew, knit, or crochet garment(s) from wool, wool blend (60% wool, minimum) fabric, yarn, or specialty wool fibers (such as alpaca, angora, camel, cashmere, llama, mohair, and vicuna).
 
QUILTS*
Participants will sew a quilt of any size or pattern, with finished edges, using any quilting method (machine, hand, hand-tie, etc.)

 

*NOTE: For clubs that do not offer such a project, Mrs. Schreiber will be offering her sewing project countywide for any youth member to fulfill that requirement. Meetings will be every Saturday 5-6:30pm on Feb 25,-Mar 18.  Please contact Mrs. Schreiber as her meetings will be on Zoom. beve1us@yahoo.com

*NOTE: For youth members to qualify at OCFR as County Winner and move on to State competition in categories requiring enrollment in a Clothing & Textiles or Sewing project, youth must have completed all 6 hours of required project time by the time they move on to CA State Fashion Revue (May 27, 2023) or they will be disqualified from state competition.
