There is no official required 4-H uniform,
but the traditional 4-H attire is recommended when performing showmanship,
representing 4-H or at other 4-H functions. Some clubs require uniforms
for certain events in order to get full credit for record books. 4-H
attire might be required to do showmanship at certain Fairs. This is a
requirement of that fair and is not because of 4-H rules, but participants
may lose points or ability to participate in those particular fair events
by not following the fair rules. |

La Habra Hilltopper girls sew their own scarves using a
pattern and fabric purchased locally. The exact shade of green used for scarves
varies. After the green scarf is sewn, clover
patches are added to the corners. Fix the neckties with a small white plastic ring
from the fabric store or a gold 4H ring that is available from our club periodically. Cute! Wear this
scarf with your clean, pressed white blouse and green or white hat for a sharp
look.

California is unique in having a special hat
for 4-Hers. Year pins, stars and other buttons and pins go on the hat.
There are two colors of hats: white and green. A great site to see an
explanation of the pins and where they go: California State 4-H
recommendations:
4H
Uniform/Hat. Some clubs and counties have slightly different traditions
about the hat. It is important to remember to not overload the hat with gold
medals and other duplicated achievements. Be modest.

La Habra Hilltoppers offers both a polo shirt with club logos
as well as a regular T-shirt with club logos. There is also a sweatshirt with
our logo, too! These can be worn to many events. Boys and girls can both wear these shirts.

Many young ladies add a white skirt or
pants. White jeans are sometimes hard to find, so keep your eyes open and
get them BEFORE you need them. Nursing clothing stores or outlets
sometimes have white pants at reasonable rates, too. To look really sharp,
make sure your hair is under control, your clothing is pressed and clean,
and that your fingernails are clean when representing 4-H. Also, if your
pants have belt loops you should wear a plain - preferably black - belt.

Boys can wear either the clip on tie or the traditional
around-the-neck tie.

The 4-H shirts, hat, tie and scarf pattern is available from
