| Project Description | To learn the principles of rocket flight and build and launch your own rockets. Advanced members may design and simulate rockets. Each meeting is a mixture of classroom and construction of rockets. Model rockets can fly from a few hundred to over 2,000 feet high. In addition, you might want to hold back your best looking rocket for the Youth Expo and Fair - or create a poster for some of the model rocketry knowledge you've acquired during the year. |

| Competition and/or Showmanship | You will be expected to show off your
rocket(s) - the ones that weren't totally destroyed during launching - and
your knowledge by participating in Youth Expo and the Orange County Fair: YOUTH EXPO (a "learning fair" of 2-3 days) You can display your rocket and/or make a poster If you choose to show your rocket, you must have launched it before Youth Expo ORANGE COUNTY FAIR You may make a new poster or display, or use the one from Youth Expo |
| Estimated Costs | Build one or more rockets at $5 - $20 each (available from local hobby stores or the Internet). There may also be a small materials fee of around $20 for parts to build a rocket, engines, display stands, and paint. |
