ROCKETRY AND TARC PROJECT

ORANGE ACRES BACK BREAKERS

YEAR:

2009 - 2010
Leader:  Dick Schreiber - dickschrieber@netzero.com

Project Description To learn the principles of rocket flight and build and launch your own rockets.  Advanced members may design and simulate rockets.  Each meeting is a mixture of classroom and construction of rockets.  Model rockets can fly from a few hundred to over 2,000 feet high.  In addition, you might want to hold back your best looking rocket for the Youth Expo and Fair - or create a poster for some of the model rocketry knowledge you've acquired during the year.
Age Range 9 years old and above
Minimum/Maximum Number of Participants TBD
Meeting Dates Second Monday of each month
Time of Meetings 7:00 p.m.
Meeting Location Schreiber residence in Santa Ana.
Competition and/or Showmanship You will be expected to show off your rocket(s) - the ones that weren't totally destroyed during launching - and your knowledge by participating in Youth Expo and the Orange County Fair:
YOUTH EXPO (a "learning fair" of 2-3 days)
You can display your rocket and/or make a poster
If you choose to show your rocket, you must have launched it before Youth Expo
    ORANGE COUNTY FAIR
You may make a new poster or display, or use the one from Youth Expo
Estimated Costs Build one or more rockets at $5 - $20 each (available from local hobby stores or the Internet). There may also be a small materials fee of around $20 for parts to build a rocket, engines, display stands, and paint.
